DARK Ch.6 Sometime amid this pain, Professor Port orders Greyson to take me to the infirmary, and the rest are sent to see Headmaster Ozpin. Greyson and I walk silently for what seems like forever, most likely due to the immense state of agony I am currently in. After a while, I realize Greyson is leading me away from our destination, the infirmary.
“Uh, wait, where are you taking me? I-I thought the infirmary was the other way...” I ask apprehensively.
“To the dorms,” Greyson states flatly, as if I should know what his plan is. What could be his plan? I don’t think he has any ulterior motives for me, even if I didn’t have a knife sticking from my right shoulder. I want to go to the infirmary. I know that much.
“Please, no... W-what are you going to do to me?” I inquire. They aren’t the exact words I was planning, but they’ll work.
An odd look comes to Greyson’s fac
DARK Ch.5 Professor Port’s class room is buzzing with excitement. Out of all of the students packed in today, nearly every first year student at Beacon, nobody quite knows what is going on. Three teams have been picked for a field trip to the forest of Forever Fall, and the rest are here doing something else. Those are the concrete details. Outside of that, nothing is certain.
Professor Port gives an unusually short announcement, followed by the pairing of teams, and our assignment. I find the assignment rather odd; building an energy transference device seems more like an engineering project, or... Got it. This is a team building day. May I leave now?
As Professor Port picks up his newspaper and sips from his standard-issue Beacon Academy mug, the leader of the team who has the misfortune of working with Team DARK walks up to Darien. The team is named Team GRAE.
The boy, most likely the “G” of GRAE, smiles slightly, and sh
DARK Ch.4 Ezelia launches herself at me with a surprising amount of force. Ezelia holds Grimm Cat in axe mode above her head, ready to smash down. I quickly pull my sword from its sheath, and use my shield to block Ezelia’s massive black axe.
My shield was forced backward, causing it to crash into my head. I hear stifled laughter from several students, as well as some “ooh’s” and “aw’s.”
I retaliate by punching outward with my shielded arm. This leaves an opening for me to get a single strong slash at Ezelia with my sword. I roll backward as Grimm Cat transforms into a huge black sword. My sword changes as well. With a twist of my wrist, Broken Wings is in crossbow form. I fire a few shots, all of which were blocked. Ezelia flings herself at me once more, and I am forced to switch back to sword and shield mode.
Ezelia and I continue battling for over a minute. I find myself able to steal a few split-
DARK Ch.3 Beacon’s main hall was packed. Every first year student stood, looking up to the stage as Glynda Goodwitch announced the first of many practices for the Vytal tournament. My team and I waited in anticipation as Glynda Goodwitch named off our sparring partners for the day.
“...Darien Wolley will be sparring Pierce Verdi, Raven Corvis will be against Ezelia Hawthorne...” Raven could barely hear over the crowd’s excited rumble. After a few minutes, an inaudible command was given, and all the students began to find their partners.
Not knowing what to do, I followed Darien and the rest of my team. Eventually we found our partners for the day. Ezelia Hawthorne was a tall girl, though anyone is tall compared to me, with brown hair in a messy ponytail, with rectangular glasses. She wore a brown combat skirt with hot pink edges and lacing. A pair of high, black sneaker boots, also with pink lacing, nearly came to her knees.
DARK Ch.2 The Deathstalker burst from the shadows, splintering the trees in its path. I tumbled to the side, drew my sword, and raised my shield to block the spears of wood flung in my direction. I switched from sword form to crossbow form and fired shots at the Deathstalker’s eyes, only managing to hit half before a massive claw swiped at me from the side. I dodged back, and used my sword to cut the back of the Deathstalker’s arm a total of three times.
On the other side, Darien shot his weapon, a large axe which transformed to an assault rifle at the Grimm’s impenetrable armor. The monster’s stinger was bearing down on him. I jumped high into the air, blocking the huge yellow telson with my shield, and spun around to sever it from the rest of the tail. The Deathstalker screeched in fury, and lifted its claws up. I did not expect this. It was going to cut me clean in half.
A black shadow silently cut underneath me. The Deathstalker screeched ag
DARK Ch.1 It has been a year and a half since that day. My mother made me promise to never try again, for both her sake and mine. I don’t plan to, either. Maybe if I've survived once, it’s a sign I shouldn't try again. Or maybe, it just means I’m a total failure.
I’m writing this from Beacon Academy. I've decided to fight Grimm to prove that I can succeed in something. And if I die, well, it’s not like I have much to lose.
I rose this morning in my corner of the Main Hall. It is a beautiful, large, grey corridor used for everything from meals, to housing the first year student on their first day. After freshening up, I made my way to the cliff overlooking the Emerald forest. I was the first one there, save for Ozpin and his assistant, Glynda Goodwitch. An ominous breeze blew over the beautiful dense green jungle. I clutch my weapons with my right hand. My Xiphos, which can transform into a dust-powered crossbow, lay in it
